Do I need dental extractions?
Our goal, and likely yours too, is to preserve your existing natural teeth for life. But bad luck, unfortunate genetics, or past neglect can contribute to a situation where this goal cannot be realized.
What options for tooth removal are available at Courtyard Dentistry?
If it is determined that one or more teeth need to be extracted and replaced in some way, we will discuss your options and help you plan for your best outcome. Occasionally, the circumstances allow for an extraction in our office, but the extraction is often only part of the plan. Usually, an oral surgeon is utilized to help us take your treatment plan forward. Tooth removal may include surgical or nonsurgical solutions, depending on your unique needs and current situation. Many patients would like to arrange for an implant placement in the same visit.
Why might I need my wisdom teeth removed?
The wisdom teeth, also known as the third molars, present a common complaint for many patients. Because they are the last permanent adult teeth to erupt in the mouth, there typically is not a lot of space for them to come through the gum line. This can result in impaction, which can be painful and leaves the wisdom teeth unable to erupt. Wisdom teeth that make it through the gum line may be so far back in the mouth that patients are unable to keep them clean, leaving you at risk of periodontal disease or significant tooth decay. Removal options can be discussed with our team.
