You live a busy life. What if you need a dental crown to fix your broken tooth? While your oral health is a priority, requiring you to make several dental appointments for a traditional dental crown may seem too much to ask. But did you know a dentist in Claremont, California, can place a crown in one simple visit?
With state-of-the-art digital CEREC technology, Dr. David Seccombe of Courtyard Dentistry can plan, design, and place a crown in one day! No multiple appointments and no temporaries – just one convenient visit!
CEREC, in full Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic, uses digital scanning and 3D technology to create restorations in one appointment. Like traditional crowns, the process starts with a consultation to determine if a crown is the best treatment. If yes, we numb your mouth and carefully remove any decayed or damaged portion of the tooth. Then, we reshape your tooth to accommodate your crown.
The next step is taking your bite impressions. CEREC is all digital. Instead of messy physical impressions, we use a comfortable, super-accurate digital camera to take precise imprints of your teeth and surrounding structures. Then, using a computer-assisted design (CAD) unit, we design your crown that matches your unique tooth specifications. The CAD technology displays results conveniently on a chairside screen, so you can watch and even give feedback as we design your crown.
Finally, we send the images to an in-house milling machine that carves your crown from a ceramic block. Unlike conventional crowns, sending your crown design to an offsite dental lab is not needed. We fabricate your crown right here in our office as you wait!
Once your crown is ready, we only make a few final touches because your restoration is created with ultimate precision. The last step is to bond your crown permanently to your tooth using dental cement. That’s it! You are done! You can now eat, smile, and talk confidently with your newly restored smile.
Will you love CEREC same-day dentistry? Of course, you will. Let’s tell you why.
